Do Not Email vs Prospecting Blocklists
There are two exclusion controls in your outreach workflow:
- Do Not Email List → Contact-level suppression
- Prospecting Blocklist → Opportunity / domain-level exclusion
Both prevent outreach, but they operate at different stages of the workflow.

Prospecting Blocklist (Website / Domain Control)
The Prospecting Blocklist prevents specific websites or domains from ever entering your outreach campaigns.
When a domain is added to the blocklist, it is excluded from all prospecting activity.
What the Prospecting Blocklist Does
Blocked domains will:
- Not be added to campaigns from Pitchbox prospecting searches
- Cannot be manually added or imported into campaigns
- Be excluded from all discovery and campaign workflows
- Be automatically removed from workflows if blocklisted before outreach begins
Blocklist Scope
Blocklisting can be applied at:
- Project level — affects one project only
- Account level — applies across all projects
Blocked domains can be reviewed anytime in your Prospecting Summary.
Important Workflow Behaviour
- If a domain is blocklisted while inside a campaign workflow (e.g. Inspect & Personalise or Compose), it will be automatically removed and excluded from further processing.
- If the domain has already been contacted, it will still be added to the blocklist but will remain in historical outreach records due to prior engagement.
Do Not Email List (Contact-Level Unsubscribe Control)
The Do Not Email list manages individual contact opt-outs and ensures compliant outreach.
Unlike the Prospecting Blocklist, this feature applies to people, not companies or domains.
How Contacts Are Added
A contact is added when:
- They reply to outreach with “unsubscribe” (automatically added)
- A user manually blocks the contact from the Opportunity Details page
Once added, no further emails will be sent to that individual contact.
Compliance Context
Under email compliance regulations:
- Unsubscribe requests apply to the individual recipient only
- They do not apply to the entire company or domain
How the Do Not Email List Works in Campaigns
Contacts on the Do Not Email list may still appear during prospecting.
When outreach runs:
- The system automatically stops all forms (manual and automated) outreach to that contact
Important Behaviour
If any contact within an opportunity unsubscribes:
- All outreach for that opportunity immediately stops
- The opportunity milestone is automatically changed to Loss
- The sequence will not continue to other contacts within the same opportunity
Because outreach stops at the opportunity level, additional domain suppression is unnecessary.
