How Do I Unsubscribe a Contact?

Contacts who reply with the word “Unsubscribe” in the subject line are automatically added to the Do Not Email list by Pitchbox. These contacts will display the reason “Unsubscribed,” and no further emails will be sent to them. This action cannot be reversed.

If needed, you can also manually mark a contact as unsubscribed to prevent them from receiving future outreach. This can be done directly within Pitchbox:

1) Manually add a contact to the Do Not Email list:

  1. Click Settings in the top-right corner of your screen.
  2. Select Do Not Email from the menu on the left.
  3. Select + To the Do Not Email List from the menu on the left.
  4. Add the contact’s email address.

Once added, the contact will not receive any further outreach emails from your campaigns for either the project you selected or account wide.

2) Unsubscribe a Contact via the Address Book

Locate the contact or opportunity by using the search bar at the top of your screen. While in the address book, hover over the contact and select mark as unsubscribed.

3) Unsubscribe via a Contact List

Wherever you see a list of contacts in Pitchbox, such as within Opportunity Details, the Campaign Workflow, the CRM, or the Address Book, you will have quick access to unsubscribe a contact.

Simply locate the contact and click the unsubscribe icon next to their email address. Once selected, the contact will be added to the Do Not Email list. Their contact entry will appear in red, indicating that they are blocked from receiving any further communications.

Your unsubscribed contacts will now appear in your Do Not Email list. Visit this Knowledge Base article to read more about managing your Do Not Email list

4) What Happens After a Contact Is Unsubscribed

  • The contact will no longer receive outreach emails from your campaigns.
  • Their unsubscribe status will be saved in the system, preventing accidental future sends.
  • You can still view the prospect’s profile and past communication history within Pitchbox.

5) When to Unsubscribe a Contact

You may want to unsubscribe a contact if they request to be removed from your outreach but did not respond with the word unsubscribe.
