How to Set a Profile Image for Your Email Account

Pitchbox uses Gravatar (Globally Recognized Avatar) to manage profile pictures. Rather than uploading your photo directly into Pitchbox, you’ll set your profile image through Gravatar. Gravatar links your chosen image to your email address, allowing Pitchbox to display it automatically.


Why Gravatar?

Gravatar allows you to associate a universal profile picture with your email address. Once set up, your photo will appear automatically in Pitchbox and in many other tools and platforms that support Gravatar.

Because the image is tied to your email, it becomes part of your digital identity, meaning when you send outreach emails through Pitchbox, recipients are more likely to see a consistent profile image across different email clients and platforms.

Unlike profile pictures added in services like Gmail, which are typically only visible to other Gmail users, Gravatar bridges that gap by offering broader visibility across the web.


Steps to Update Your Profile Picture

  1. Go to Gravatar.com

    Open your web browser and navigate to https://en.gravatar.com.

  2. Create a Free Gravatar Account

    If you don’t already have one, sign up for a free account using the same email address you use in Pitchbox.

    ⚠️ Important: The profile picture will only appear in Pitchbox if it’s associated with the same email address you use in your Pitchbox account.

  3. Add and Verify Your Email Address

    Once logged in, add the email address if it's not already listed and verify it by clicking the confirmation link sent to your inbox.

  4. Upload Your Profile Picture

    Click on "Add an image" and upload your desired profile picture. Crop and confirm the image as needed.

  5. Assign the Image to Your Email

    After uploading, assign the image to the email address associated with Pitchbox.

  6. Wait for the Image to Update in Pitchbox

    Pitchbox will automatically pull in your Gravatar image. This can take a few minutes to appear.


Need Help?

If your profile picture isn't showing up after some time, double-check that:

  • You're using the same email address in both Pitchbox and Gravatar.
  • The email is verified on Gravatar.
  • An image has been correctly assigned.
