Setting Your Link Monitoring Domain

Link Monitoring tracks the backlinks for the domain set within your Project Settings.

Pitchbox will automatically pull in up to 100 top links after your domain has been added to your project settings.

Link Monitoring is designed to track only one domain set in your Project Settings. It is important to enter the correct version of your domain (e.g. whether it is a www. or non-www. domain). Furthermore, when building outreach, it is essential to ensure that your opportunity creates your backlink using the correct subdomain. For instance, if the domain set in your Project Settings is pitchbox.com, a link for www.pitchbox.com will be displayed as 'Not Linking' because the domains are different.

Opportunity Details

Opportunities marked as Won will begin tracking your links. You can change the Milestone to Won directly from the Opportunity Details page, where you will be prompted to insert the link and any related win information.

This will add the link to Link Monitoring so that you can ensure the health of your wins.

Link Status

Your links will populate on the Link Monitoring page.

Your Link URL Status signifies the current status of your link. Your Page Response Codes are related to the status of the webpage itself. There are various possible responses:

  • Not Linking - There are no links from this page to the domain you are monitoring.
  • Follow (#) - This is how many links are marked as active follow links. This can include image links as well.
  • 301 - This means that there is a page redirect when someone clicks on this link.
  • 404 - This means the page cannot be found, thus there is no active link.
  • 200 - This means that your link is active.

If you have any uncertainties regarding any errors appearing in your Link Monitoring, please reach out to our support team so that we can investigate the status of the link.

Events

The Events tab will show you any changes to your Link Status or Page Response Codes.

It is good to keep an eye on this tab to understand the health of your links. You can click on the Details button to view more information about the Link Status change.

Creating Your Link Monitoring Campaign

If you have multiple links that require updating, such as in the case of a domain update or when dealing with broken links, you have the option to initiate a Link Monitoring Campaign. 🔗

A Link Monitoring Campaign is created directly from the Link Monitoring page. Select the sites that you want to reach out to and click 'Create a Link Monitoring Campaign'.

Once your campaign has been created, you can dedicate your outreach efforts to updating the status of each link.
